| Celebrating Valentine's Day In search of something “special” I headed off to the Soapnuts Recipe Nook (http://www.soapnuts.com/indexnook.html). No matter what you are planning for Valentine's Day, I’m sure there is something in the Recipe Nook to help you out! My first stop was the Scent Blend Recipes. There are plenty of scents to tempt even the most unromantic person. The womanly scents are varied; from floral to spicy, to exotic. So what sounds good to you? Sex on the Beach, Love, Ambrosia, Elegance? Maybe, Moon Garden, Savannah Rain, Devine? Maybe something a little more edgy like; Dark Dreams, Sensual Blend, Dark Rose? The masculine scents are also varied and unique. Take a whiff of these; Bay Rum, Bay Lime, Spicy Men’s Blend, Magi, Arabian Spice, Mecca, Lime Blend, Mystery. A great unisex scent, and one of my favorites, is Sweet Earth. Oh, and then there’s the luscious smelling Sensuous Scented Sheet Spray! I just love this blend of, jasmine, ylang ylang, and sandalwood. My next stop was the
Misc. Recipes. Hmmmm, Valentine's
Day…I think we can skip the first page of laundry soaps and hand cleaners,
assuming your sheets are fresh and your hands are clean! LOL! Page two
boasts a Body Splash recipe that can be used with any of the wonderful scent
blends you have already found. Oh,
don’t skip over the powder puff and bath sponge directions; you might need
something to apply your wonderful creations! Page three is the home of List Mom Becky’s famed Love Dust and
directions for Feather Dusters. And
this is just the beginning…so, keep looking; you’ll find lots of edible body
products, massage oil, body paint, love dust. As you think about getting ready for
Valentine's Day, don’t forget about
the shower gels, the exotic soap blends, the scented dryer bags, room sprays,
linen sprays; everything you’ll need to make this Valentine's Day as romantic
or as kinky as you desire.
What am I making? Well, you all know about my chocolate covered cherry soap, as we had the discussion on the list. I also made some chocolate covered cherry lip balm. I used 3 parts chocolate flavor oil; 2 parts wild cherry flavor oil and one part vanilla flavor oil with my favorite lip balm recipe (which is in the recipe nook). Now, I just need something else to fill up the plastic heart boxes I found at the dollar store… So, I decided to tweak my Glitter Gel in search of a better product. I wanted something that could be used in those pretty roll-on containers. But something that would leave the skin soft, fragrant, shimmering with just a bit of glitter. Here’s my Valentines Day offering to you all. Roll-On Shimmer Gel Mix aloe vera gel and
glycerin together, add T-50 and stir. Add
mica and glitter and stir until the glitter and mica are well distributed and
are not clumped together. Add the
fragrance and stir again. I let
this rest for a few hours and then pour/spoon into the roll-on bottles. As always, feel free to use it as it is or tweak it a bit to suit your
personal tastes…play with it and make it your own. I don’t know about you all, but I’m planning a wonderful Valentine's Day meal complete with a special cake. I would like to share my Valentine's Cake recipe with you too. This is a luscious dark red cake with a great texture. The frosting recipe is a bit unusual, but it produces a creamy, thick, delicious, not-too-sweet frosting! Red Velvet Cake Cream Crisco and sugar
together. Add eggs, food coloring,
vanilla, salt and buttermilk and mix until blended. Sift together flour, cocoa and baking powder.
Add dry ingredients to the batter and blend well…finally, add the
vinegar. Grease and flour two
8-inch cake pans (the heart shaped ones are great!). Pour cake batter into pans
and bake for 35 minutes at 350° Remove from oven, cool 10 minutes and remove from pans.
Cool completely. Frosting for Red
Velvet Cake Cook over medium heat until it forms a thick paste, remove from heat and cool completely. Cream together the
following: Once this is creamed together, beat at a higher speed and add the cooled paste. Beat for 5 to 10 minutes until you have a creamy frosting texture. Frost cooled cake. Now go celebrate Valentine's Day! ~ Denise Washburn
