This is a monthly compilation of tips, knowledge, and just plain old good advice.

Powdered Milk
It seems like someone here asked about what to do with powdered milk...just a couple days ago?  I saw the response about milk baths and fizzies, but I wanted to mention this...

I often use powdered milk instead of liquid milk in my soaps.  I measure out what seems right for my size recipe, and use the stick blender to add the powdered milk to the liquid oils.  Then I add my lye water to the milky oil...I still add slowly, but not as slowly as with lye to milk.  It works very well for me...I like it a lot.

Containers for Salves, Lotions, etc.
I have been wiping them down with rubbing alcohol after washing them in soapy water... Not the tins, they just get alcohol since they will rust in water. After a bit, the stink wears off and you can't smell that they
were cleaned with alcohol.

There are those that say you don't need to sterilize containers that you just purchased when using a preservative, me, I like to sterilize everything anyhoot, you can also use Sodium metabisulfite tablets (no idea
if that is spelled right or not, lol).

Boiling water over the glass bottles!!!!  Then they would be so hot that they will dry on a dish towel!   My 2 scents again!!!

And a hot oven for glass and tins...good for those bottles we reuse too!

I've got most of the scent out of the bottles (soaked in hot soapy water, then put some salt in and shook like mad).

Maybe just keep the bottles and replace the caps??    Caps are a LOT cheaper than bottles and SO much cheaper/lighter to ship!

Getting Scent out of Caps
I soak the caps in baking soda for a couple of days, and this really helps eliminate any odor. If you leave the caps off to store them, this will certainly dissipate any lingering scent.

I soak mine in rubbing (now you all remember that I can't spell this word) alochol.  ;)

I have had good luck with a combo of vinegar and baking soda...letting them soak overnight...or longer if I forget them.  I don't have a dishwasher, so it's all by hand for me and my reused bottles!

Morning Sickness
4 daughters, burped (delicately and quite ladylike, lol, I am so sure!!) my brains out in early pregnancy. What worked for me was not a natural remedy, but the midwife finally suggested an otc with simethicone (i.e.: Mylicon, Gas-X, Phazyme, Mylanta Gas), all considered pregnancy safe...it was just
what I needed.

What worked for me was eating small
meals throughout the whole day rather than any big meals. I also ate whatever sounded good, kettle chips were a big one for me. Sometimes if I would drink water too fast it would make me sick too. I threw up pretty much everyday, so nothing cured me besides
getting to that 2nd trimester, but I was able to find ways to cope. I also got those acupressure bands for motion sickness and wore those 24/7. There were quite a few times when I didn't even really feel sick but
would suddenly just throw up. It was bad because I could be anywhere when it happened, the kitchen, living room, laying in bed, in the car, etc. I just started carrying a bucket with me everywhere ;) If you can find ways to keep your blood sugar more stable,
that might help (small meals throughout the day, more protein, and things of that nature). At least know that many of us feel for you!  I also drank a lot of peppermint tea and carried around a rag scented with peppermint eo. Peppermint scent always made me feel a little less gross and many times stopped me from getting sick.

One of the best solutions I ever heard for morning sickness and also heartburn, was to munch on something that was protein. I could never eat bread for some reason when I was pregnant, so I would roll up a slice of provolone cheese inside a slice of turkey. This seemed to really settle my stomach, as well as take away the queasiness from heartburn.

Sleep through the first three months....

Actually, upping the protein intake has helped me quite a bit.  Also, when you start to get that "uuuughgghghghgh...." feeling, eat a couple of crackers.

And, oddly enough, Ovaltine...
