Internet Shopping
Have you been shopping lately? You know, replenishing your supplies, grabbing something new for a swap, ordering restocking supplies, or just window-shopping to see what’s new. Ever since I restocked last fall, I have pretty much been ignoring the shopping **call**. But this week I hit the web for a shopping extravaganza. First off, you’ve gotta check out your favorite suppliers…just to see what’s new. Well, apparently it’s been a while since I’ve been to Brambleberry, http://www.brambleberry.com/index.html - they’ve completely changed the look of their website. Very pretty and professional looking! AND, they have added quite a few new products. The very first thing that caught my eye was the phrase “get free extracts”…but it required a $70 order, and with all the other things I needed to purchase, I just didn’t have enough self-imposed space on that credit card to get them “free”! The extracts look very promising…and will be something that I order in the future. They also introduced a new line of supplies called “Limited Edition Items.” Right now they are listing limited edition spring fragrances and limited edition summer fragrances with one “coming soon.” And let me tell you, if they had had the Aquolina Pink Sugar in stock, it would have been MINE! New regular-line fragrances include: Island Coconut, Mayan Gold, and Pineapple Cilantro. And, as always they have their “discontinued,” “surplus items,” and “monthly specials”. Oh, let’s see, what did I order; black oxide, green chrome oxide, relaxing fragrance oil and Arabian spice fragrance oil; believe it or not, only what was on my list! My next stop was Almost Heaven Candle and
Soap Stuff; http://www.candleandsoapstuff.com/
Recently I was in on a fast buy on some herbs from this company.
I was leery ordering herbs from a fast buy, but I went ahead and did it
anyway. Let me tell you, these are the cleanest and most fragrant
bulk herbs that I’ve ever bought! And
I believe that Lea is going to be carrying these in her regular line.
Since these were so nice, I looked around the website and decided to
place an order, ordering quite a few ‘restock’ items items; cyclomethicone,
sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, shea oil, fractionated coconut oil.
And I ordered a few new-to-me items; the prettiest frosted roller bottles
I’ve ever seen, frosted glass with aluminum caps; sodium lactate (planning
waaay ahead for a swap) and the stand up zip bags that we were discussing on the
list. You must check out this
supplier…so much stuff that I had a hard time sticking to my budget! Next was a quick stop at Scenter Stage, http://www.scenterstage.com/pack.html
for more of those wonderful aluminum spray bottles that have been posted in the
Soapnuts Weekly Ads. Let me tell
you, this company is fast and Jean is great to work with! With my first order, I received it six days after sending
Jean a check! This time I called
and used my credit card. Hey, it
was happy…it’s finally gotten out of secure depths of my wallet and wanted
to kick up its heels and play a bit! I’m
going for a whole new “look” for my line…more upscale / high-end. This move was my sister’s suggestion so I’m rather
tentative (hey, after all, she **is** my sister) making this move.
But these aluminum bottles fit the “look” perfectly…and so do those
roller bottles from Candle and Soap Stuff!
My sister is going to be very pleased with this purchase!
Oh, and while you are at Scenter Stage, check out the fragrance oils.
Jean sent me a sample with my last purchase, I haven’t gotten it into
soap yet, but it smells divine in lotion and bath oil!!! I was quickly running out of money and still
needed patchouli fragrance oil. So,
on over to Nature’s Best Soaps, http://www.naturesbestsoaps.com/EOFO.htm
for a pound of patchouli and a bit of ylang ylang #1. My BIL loves patchouli; I swear he would drink it if he
thought he could get away with it. I
make many products and quite a few scent blends with it…so I ordered a full
pound! Now, that Ylang…that is
totally a “for me” purchase. I’ve
only ever had the #3…so I can’t wait to sniff “the good stuff”! During my ‘window shopping’ I noticed
several other sites had new looks to them and I noticed quite a few newer
ingredients that I haven’t seen before. You
all are way ahead of me; I’ve been getting swap items packed with these newer
ingredients. After some browsing
and organizing of my bookmarks I hopefully will be able to find what I’m
looking for rather quickly! Now, if only buying a new range was this
easy! We spent most of today
searching for the “perfect” range (or as we say, stove).
As usual, what I want is NOT what I can afford!
LOL After some deliberation
and consideration, Bill and I agreed to disagree.
Besides, when does he cook? I
have settled on a Maytag MGR5875Q…you can see it here, http://www.maytag.com/mths/products/product.jsp?model=MGR5875QDW
Oh, and in stainless…this is what the deliberation and consideration
was all about! In the end, he’s
paying for a (as he calls it) “normal” stove and I’m paying the extra for
this particular model and the extra for the stainless version.
We were quoted a great price for this, about $400 less than the price on
that link and included in that price, they will deliver it, install it, replace
the gas connector and take the old stove with them when they leave!
Hmmm, now I’m striving to save $500 in the next three weeks…my goal
is to pay cash for this baby! My credit card has had its fun, my supplies
are restocked and I’ve picked up a few “extras” to play with and formulate
with. I’ll be the one being good,
saving money and day dreaming of a wonderful new range/stove.
AND, I promise not to lead others into temptation…………..weeelll,
for the time being, anyways! ;) ~ Denise Washburn
