Nuts in the News
Whew!! Moments of panic over here! I lost
my notes, but... and wiping the sweat off my brow here…. I found them.
Now, if we were quiet little nuts this would not bring about the
palpitations and wild eyes, but if I recall, there were lots of posts last
month and the thought of reading them all again had me going there!
Silly me, they were right there in my nursing bag where I put them
so I could work on the news this weekend. Even sillier since I almost never have time to eat at work, let
alone play on the computer. So
folks, I take full responsibility for the late newsletter this month!
What’s new? Well, whole lotta new nuts, that’s what!
Please welcome new members Sonya, Yvonne, Teresa
C., Theresa M., Kelly, Betsy, Di,
Lisa, Lori, Carol, Ruth, Patti and Michelle.
We also want to say welcome back to Catherine!! So glad you all chimed in too since a group isn’t interactive
without the questions, comments, answers and general silliness your posts. What did we talk about? Well to keep it soap related, we hunted around for the best coconut
fragrance oil..but do you think I wrote it down? NoOOOooo, not me!
Good
thing I’m not trying to earn my living at this LOL!! Bath
bombs, the molds that work well for them, and how to get the darn things
to stick together! We talked about brown sugar scrubs and the great things that go
into them. Then there was the
“Jelly Fish” bath gel started by Denise…after Betsy returned from
vacation with a “Lush” products review. Now, we know Jessica ordered the Jelly Fish stuff, so stay tuned
for a product review. Since
we are such foodies too, we all got great recipes for jello salads and
clothespin cookies. Last but
not least…. one of my favorite soap boxes..WATER. Hope you all drank your share today!
Birthdays? Oomph! Did
I miss one? List momma Camille? Please say yours was June and
NOT May! Bad Marian!! I do know for sure that Bobbi is a
little older and that Soapnuts is now 6!! What a great testament to
a fabulous group! While not birthdays, we had other great things to
celebrate with both joy and trepidation. We had several kids
graduate from high school and while this is a great milestone; it also
reminds us how fast they grow up and leave. Michelle and Steph are all
settled. .. or at least IN their new homes. Crysty has a new farm and hopes to have goats for fresh goatsmilk.
Happy housewarming all around ladies! We’ve had April showers,
we’ve had May showers, and this month, a few of us had June breezes.
Breezes hah! BJs
family, Donna, and Ann all had up close and personal encounters with
tornados this month. I will
take my –20° winter temps over those tornado things any day! Glad everyone was okay! Donna, in the spirit of
competition, decided that she had to wreck her bike too, just to show her
hubby how to do it! Donna,
next time just sympathize, not empathize! You know I am kidding with you I hope!
Speaking of earthly encounters, Denise’s Billy had a crash too,
but smart scout that he is, he had a helmet on. The helmet is toast but his melon is intact! The list mommas? Becky is working towards her own little zoo with the addition of
the cutest little baby doves. Camille
has been learning how to make miniature chairs with Apoxi Scult. The initial pictures of the chair are wonderful.
I can’t wait to see it complete!
Jackie reminded us all, the hard
way, to wear our protective gear while soaping. Her eyes are perfectly okay, but raw soap in the eye is a
potentially blinding experience. Don’t
let this happen to you! Kudos to Finola! Still busy with her new job, she managed to put together and HUGE order of gift baskets for a visiting convention! I believe it was in excess of 20 baskets?? Wow! Steph, in the midst of packing for their move,
managed to fit in a meeting with fellow Soapnut Ann C. This woman
has met at least two nuts on two continents this past year or so!
Kewl beans! Shawna popped into say hi. She is very busy lately with caring for her ill aunt.
However, during this time she has had time to play with her new
grandbaby and celebrating her son's wedding. Shawna, you hang in there! Constance also dropped in the say hi and let us know her son just got back from a missions trip to Costa Rica. While most kids who go on these missions are great kids to begin with, it offers a sobering reality check on life in the rest of the world. Marsha’s dh had to return to
active duty, but hopefully he is home for good this month. Frances and a bunch of friends
had a “girls night” kinda weekend and got to see Simon and Garfunkle.
Kay and her son went cruising to
California in a convertible. Stacy M. went to TX for a great visit with
one of here friends and checked out the nice southern manners of the
gentleman there. Faye has been stalking the UPS
guy. And Susan is STILL having trouble
with those darn soap eating mice! Swaps? Well, the “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” and the “Flight of
Fancy” swap reviews have been coming in. I wish I could see pictures, but you have all done a great job
describing the creativity out there! Several of us are busily selling
at Farmers Markets, and some of us, STACY :o), are having trouble with
soap juggling dingbats! I
hope you all are doing great…minus the drunken jesters. Finally, we say goodbye to Miriam. We wish her the best
of happiness and fortune and hope she returns when things slow down.
If you have never met Miriam, read back a few newsletters and see
both her contributions and bio. Till next time! ~ Marian Lane
