Nuts in the News

nuts In the news

by Marian Lane

Good day to you all!  Can you believe it is June already?  I can’t!  Especially when I think that the last time I did this, it was December!  I will start off by apologizing for missing stuff that I am sure I have.  I went on vacation in February and just didn’t make it all the way through the 2 weeks of e-mail I missed.  I think I have all my notes here….but if something got left out, rest assured, it was not intentional, it was my note storage methods :o)

Doesn’t time fly anymore?  Must be ‘cause I am getting older.  It sure never did this when I was growing up!  I was reading my last submission and that brought back all the memories of the cold and here we are…. summer!  I want to start by saying welcome to a whole bunch of new nuts!  I have Margo, Michelle, Tracy, Lizzie, Elin, Yvette, Lana, &Sharon.   Maryanne popped out of lurk mode and got her sister Tina, to join too.  Karen H came back to the group too.  We hope you ladies have a great time with us!

Birthdays….  I know there are more than what I have here and when I tried to look up ones I may have missed I found out that Yahoo has a tag line “help celebrate Yahoo’s 10th birthday….oops, that amounts to reading all the posts!  So, happy birthday to these ladies;  Susan F, Caroline, Bonnie, Veronica, Jessica (Seattle) and half of Camille’s household!

Anniversaries?  I have so say best wishes to Steph and the Major,  and Mary Tate and her hubby.

Cindy B has a new grandbaby.  Stacy has a now almost 6 month old baby and our illustrious newsletter editor, Khadijah,  had a wee little girl.     ON that note, our kids are growing SO fast.  In January they were just returning from Christmas break and now some of them are graduating.  Cindy’s son graduated in February.  Khadijah’s oldest left home this spring for school.  That’s gotta be hard to see those little babies leave home, even if you know they are not gone forever.

Jackie has been attending shows non-stop until this weekend and we all learned about the hazards of porta-potties and the value of tilex.  Denise, Sharon, Lisa, Frances & Doris got together for the 2nd NE soapnuts gathering in which they shared gifts, tips, and crafts.    I believe the Ohio gathering was this past couple months and there are three others planned for the upcoming months;  Arizona in June, the Texas gathering in July, and the NJ gathering in September.

A few other things to cheer about these past months; Denise finally got her cupboards and countertops, Pam’s son presented her with a new computer, Susan got a new pup and a new roof, and Anne Marie made it to the big time <grin>, she got to show her stuff on the HSN.  Frances won a brand spanking new sewing machine, Camille’s book was given the go, and Robin made her first batch of CPHP soap.  Kathy W had interest in a potential wholesale account.  Way to go ladies!!

Traveling nuts?  Steph and the family are heading back to Germany.  It seems like she JUST got back here!  Doris didn’t go anywhere…but she did get her house back after opening it to family while their house was being renovated.  It must have seemed like a different place, even though they stayed at home.

We wouldn’t be nuts without talking about other things too….  We hit on German Foods, crock-pot foods (they CAN be used for things besides soap), world travel and the places we would like to see, knitting and beading, felting, and gardening.  We shared numerous cookie recipes and talked again about bread machines.  The weather of course affected us all.  We either got  rain, or snow, or more snow... except Bobbie; she got an earthquake. <gak!>

All in all, it was a fairly quiet spring in the nuthouse, but we did get the occasional post from dear fiends like Doris, Constance, Peg and Frances.   It is a busy time of the year, but it's always nice for an update from everyone.

Dang, I almost forgot the swaps!!!!  We had a bundle!  Let's see, there was "My Best Friend", "Share a Smile", Heart's Desire 3" and the "Ringing in the New 2".  What fun they are to read about.  I keep telling you ladies, if you haven't done this before, you NEED to sign up.  Everyone is super nice, and it's fun too.

Well, that's all I have for now.   Feel free to holler at me if I missed a few things.  I felt so scattered that I went out and bought a little notebook just for this stuff; one that is bright yellow and hard to misplace.
