June 2004
In a Nutshell
Wow...that is about all I can say about this
last month...or maybe that should be 'whew"...lots of changes going on
here, not the least being getting on without my computer...
But that is not a bad thing for you all!! As you can see as you look at
this month's issue, Miriam Kresh stepped in on short notice and filled in for me
wonderfully- I want to thank her and Jessica profoundly for doing my
share of the work this month, as well as their own...great job, both of you!!
This month brought my Phoenix Rising swap box to my hands. Beautiful
products, and such an elegantly presented swap box. But what really got me
were the stories inside, where each participant told about a watershed event in
her life, after which she came out changed and more sure of herself and
her own strength. This has been one of those months for me, and it got me
thinking a lot about what and who is important to me, what are my strengths,
and, realistically, my weaknesses? Not an exercise in futility, as it
seems that I have gotten some of my priorities figured out better, as well as a
clearer view of what I want the future to hold.
So, this month, I want to steal Marian's idea...summer is a busy month for
soapmakers, with craft fairs, farmer's markets, home shows, etc etc. A
couple of issues ago we talked about prioritizing your business.
This time, I want you to grab a glass of cool lemonade, find a patch of grass
and
either sit in the shade under a 200 year old tree, or lay under it and let the
moon wash over you as you think about yourself for a little while. What are some
things that you have experienced that have made you a better person? What
are your strengths, what makes you a unique, lovable person?
What are your priorities in life? What can you do to make yourself
happier?
You don't have to write anything down, simply take some time out for yourself
and your well being. Breathe deeply of the summer air, and let yourself
feel some peace in the midst of your busy season. Make it a June gift to
yourself, you deserve it.
Hopefully next month I will be back at work with the newsletter. Until
then, know that you are all in my thoughts, and please, thank Miriam and Jessica
for all that they have done to bring this issue together around my
absence.
Take care, everyone- peace to you!!
