In a Nutshell

Cold weather is still in evidence, but Soapnuts from all over have been reporting signs of spring peeking out from under Winter's cloak.  We have been told of sightings of chickweed and crocuses, among other things. Soon we will be planting our gardens and making plans for farmers markets and craft shows.  Jessica and I are hoping that this issue of In a Nutshell will help you prepare for spring in more ways than one.

Spring is traditionally a time to throw open our windows and clean all the accumulated dust from our winter dens.  Stephanie Fox and I have put together some tips and ideas to help make your spring cleaning healthier and hopefully more enjoyable.

We all know that no matter how great our products are, often presentation is the key to selling success.  Frances Schuff shares her experiences and ideas on preparing and doing craft shows with us.  Her article is truly a treasure trove of suggestions, and is a really enjoyable read.

Our herbal profile this month focuses on an herb that many of you would probably see if you just look out your window. It is another invaluable herb for the home soaper and maker of homemade body care items.

We have another great contest this month, with a very generous prize donated by our supplier of the month.  Make sure and read all about Lea and her products and business.

And I have discovered that even I am not immune to participating in the Soapnut Spotlight.  Jessica asked that I be the subject of this month's article, so you will be learning a little bit more about your stalwart editor in chief. I didn't even make her have to wave her whip at me.  I am hoping that this will encourage you all to come up to bat for us when we ask you to participate as a spotlighted Soapnut.

Jessica and I hope that you thoroughly enjoy all that this issue has to offer, and would like to encourage you again to please check out the submit page, and share some of yourself with your fellow Soapnuts!
